Cason Hut
High above the Val Gardena valley, on the sunny high alpine pasture of Raschötz, a special place of authenticity awaits you: the Cason Hut – surrounded by the impressive mountain scenery of the Dolomites, you can enjoy genuine South Tyrolean cuisine and warm hospitality.
“Cason” means shepherd’s accommodation in Ladin and stands for lived tradition, connection to nature and alpine character.
The Cason Hut has a rustic and traditional design. It was renovated in 2020, and the use of reclaimed wood gave the alpine hut a modern yet rustic flair.

History of
Cason Hut
The Casonhütte on the Raschötzer Alm has a long history. Originally built in the 19th century as accommodation for shepherds and their families, it has retained its simple and original character to this day.
With the growth of tourism in South Tyrol in the 20th century, the shepherds also began to host guests, thus securing a small income during the summer months. Over the last 100 years, around twelve shepherd families have spent their summers at the mountain hut.
Despite renovations in 2019/2020, the rustic, traditional style has been preserved. The Casonhütte Raschötz has always been a popular destination for locals and visitors alike – a place where everyone is warmly welcomed.
